Caritas

CARITAS is the helping hand of the Catholic Church – reaching out to the poor, vulnerable and excluded, regardless of race or religion, to build a world based on justice and fraternal love. This website has more information about CARITAS

We start each half term with a CARITAS focus and teach CARITAS lessons. Our school Beatitudes also support all our CARITAS teaching in a practical way. We have annual collections for Cornerstones and St Joseph’s Penny.

Have a look at this website for more information about CARITAS in our local Salford Diocese. We are involved in supporting Laudato-Si Centre.

Over the past 3 years 19 members of staff have been on Mission to Dagoretti, Kenya teaching in two schools and a children’s home. We worked with a local charity, ‘Mission Possible’ and we were blessed to have raised over £20,000 to support the Salesian Sisters in the running of schools and children’s home. As a school family, we sponsor 4 children from the slums and support their education. God willing, this will be our annual mission to extend the hand of charity and faith to those who most need.

Our Student Leaders also were on Mission as they went on the annual Salford Diocese pilgrimage to Walsingham representing our local community and parish. Our school were immensely proud of how they took the fantastic opportunity to pray and worship in a sacred place. This pilgrimage resonated in the hearts of our school community as our houses are based on our Mother Mary and the four nearest sites of apparition; Walsingham, Knock, Lourdes and Fatima. Our school community aims to go on pilgrimage to all four sites in the near future.

We also have links with Rainbow House girls home and El Shaddai boys home in Goa, India, which our staff have visited and taken toys and clothes, generously donated by our community. We sponsor 4 girls from the orphanage and support their education.
