Design and Technology

In D&T this term we learnt:

 - How to be safe when handling knives

- How to be hygienic when handling food

- Seasonality and where our food comes from

- How to make guacamole 🥑

We learnt that the avocados we used were from Peru, our red onions were sourced from the UK and our tomatoes were from our school grounds!

We loved making guacamole! Some of us plan to make it for our families over half term.

Art

In Art, we took inspiration from tribal dot art. We designed our pattern in our sketchbooks and practised the dot technique. Finally we completed our final piece on wooden tiles. They look amazing!🔵🔴🟢🟡

Trips

Year 5 had a great time at the Marist Centre. We had a fantastic day thinking about how we can look after our world 🌎.

Maths

This term we have been exploring number and place value. We have also been looking at ways to add and subtract 5 and 6 digit numbers mentally, using counting on and counting back.

Writing

This term, we have been writing setting descriptions based on the setting of Wakanda. Our focus was using a variety of sentence types including relative clauses.

Welcome to Year 5!

Hi all, Miss Murphy and Miss Whitehead are excited to get started on our new school year! While Year 5 is a fantastic school year that our children always love and enjoy, we must emphasise that we require our students to put 110% effort into their school work in order to prepare them for Year 6. Below is the slides used for our parents open evening with all the relevant information with regards to PE kit, homework, swimming and many of your other queries. Your child's class teacher is always happy to answer any questions that you may have at the end of the school day on the playground.
