Today we braved the cold to begin working on developing our catching skills as part of our net and wall game unit of study. We used the steps we had learnt during the last session to throw the ball (overarm or underarm depending on success of session one) and our WILF guided us through the process of catching the ball at body level.. It was a joy to see some wonderful catches!
Why not go out in the yard/back garden/park with your child and see if they can follow the steps detailed below. Who knows perhaps we could see your child fielding at Lord's The Home of Cricket one day!
WILF (what i'm looking for)
1) Eyes focused upon the ball
2) Extend your arms towards the ball
3) Get your feet underneath the ball as soon as possible so you can focus from a still position
4) Create a large area with the hands to cup the ball
5) Soft hands
