Our Learning

Autumn Term 2

Literacy

In literacy this half term we absolutely loved learning about the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. First we learned the story visually using a story map and actions. Next, we acted out the story using face mask props. Then we went on our own bear hunt around the playground and found a friendly bear! We changed the class story to make it our own and then had a go at making our own individual story maps.

Maths

In maths this half term we explored numbers 1-5. We learned how to count and recognize each of the numbers. We also looked at matching numeral to quantity, and learned how to count objects up to 5.

Religious Education

In Religious Education this half term we focused on Advent and celebrations, specifically the birth of Jesus. We learned what Advent means and explored the Advent wreath together, making Advent promises. We also looked at what a celebration is, and how we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We really enjoyed acting out the First Christmas and learning about the story!

Postbox Visit

We really enjoyed visiting the postbox this half term! We learned about writing letters to Father Christmas and then had the chance to write our own letters. After that, we made a local trip to the nearest postbox and each of the children got to post their letter to Father Christmas! We even got a reply from Father Christmas which the children loved.

Music

In music this half term we focused on rhythms. We learned how to make, remember, and repeat a rhythm using both our bodies and instruments. We also looked at how our bodies, specifically our heartbeat, is affected after moving to music.

Topic - Fantastic Festivals

In this half term we explored different festivals and celebrations, such as Bonfire Night, Hanukkah and Christmas. We learned how important these festivals are and we also looked at how people celebrate them.

Autumn Term 1

Literacy

In literacy we have been learning story maps, telling our own stories, and sharing them.

Religious Education

In RE we have been learning about welcoming people into the church and how we can welcome each other. We visited the Prayer Garden in our school and thought about what God means to us. We said a prayer thanking God for loving us and always being there for us.

Topic - Ourselves

We have been learning about ourselves and how to keep healthy. We designed and made fruit kebabs with our favourite fruits. We enjoyed eating them.

Black History Month

We celebrated Black History Month with dancing, listening to music, playing instruments and designing our own masks.

Remember, this Thursday is 'Come Dine with your Teacher.' If you would like a delicious school meal with your teacher on this day, please give £2.30 to the office.
